“Plein Air” is a French term meaning “out of doors”. Plein Air artists set up and create paintings outdoors, choosing interesting sites and landscapes in full view as their subjects.

To help us celebrate 75 years of conservation, a group of these artists will be visiting our conservation campus at Donohoe Center in Greensburg July 23 – 26 and creating paintings on site.

We invite you to come and enjoy an Awards Reception, Exhibition & Sale of the resulting artwork on Friday, July 26 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J. Roy Houston Conservation Center (barn), 218 Donohoe Road, Greensburg. There will be light refreshments including locally produced wine and cheese. Admission is free. Please RSVP by contacting Jen Novak at 724-837-5271 ext. 211 or jen@wcdpa.com by July 23.

The Plein Air paintings will remain on display at the barn from July 26 – August 2. Hours are 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. The final display day at the barn is Saturday, August 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for the Sewickley Creek Watershed’s Cruise for Conservation – a car show fundraiser.

We invite artists 18 years old and up to visit the Westmoreland Conservation District and our conservation campus to participate in this “Plein Air” painting event July 23 – 26. Come choose your outdoor subjects and paint them in full view. Registration information
