The Southwest PA Soil Health Conference took place on January 25th at the Fred Rogers Center at Saint Vincent College. The conference committee was excited to offer an in-person conference, after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic. Keynote speaker Heidi Reed of Penn State Extension presented data collected at Penn State on the benefits and lessons learned when planting green. Jake Olson of Corteva discussed the process and considerations to take when thinking about selling carbon credits. Breakout sessions offered a diversity of topics for participants to choose from including rotational grazing and its economic benefits, herbicide spraying techniques, updates on Chemsweep from PDA, and tax credit benefits of the REAP program.
