Beautiful Plein Air Works of Art Were Created to Help Celebrate WCD’s 75th Diamond Anniversary!
We sincerely thank all of the participating Plein Air artists who visited the Westmoreland Conservation District and our conservation campus July 23 – July 26, 2024 to create their wonderful oil, acrylic and water color paintings, and pastel art. “Plein Air” is a French term meaning “in open air”. Plein air artists set up and create their artwork outdoors with their subjects in full view. At least 80% of their artwork is created outdoors. Minor details may be finished in tasdfafahe artists’ studios. The weather for our “Paint Out” was very pleasant and the artists were amazing. There were 14 artists from 3 counties who participated.
Exhibition, Awards and Sale Reception
The resulting Exhibition, Awards and Sale Reception at the Westmoreland Conservation District barn the evening of Friday, July 26 was a joy to behold. The District presented four Awards as determined by our judges and several beautiful pieces of art were sold. WCD provided light refreshments including wine by Bella Terra Winery, Hunker and Artisan Cheese by The Creamery at Pleasant Lane Farms, Latrobe.
